This documentary highlights voices of faith supporting marriage equality in Minnesota. I spent nearly a year interviewing faith leaders across a spectrum of beliefs, along with scholars, politicians and everyday people—all discussing how their views of religious texts and traditions support marriage among any two consenting adults. The title, “God Votes No,” stemmed from the effort to defeat a proposal on the November 2012 ballot to define marriage in the Minnesota state constitution as the exclusive domain of one man and one woman. “God Votes No” features interviews with U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, practicing Mormons Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker of the Duluth band Low, and author Jay Michaelson, among many others.

I’m polishing the film for potential entry into the 2013 Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival.

THE COMPLETE MOVIE: God Votes No

I produced a video in February 2013 to help educate people responsible for training others about the basics of a new, ambitious, multi-agency initiative called the Minnesota Food Charter. I also recorded the voice-over narrative.

In this video for HGA Architects and Engineers, I merged a bunch of still photography they’d previously commissioned with interviews and other footage I gathered in Voorhees, N.J., for a video that showcased HGA’s work at this state-of-the-art health center.

Since this summer, I’ve produced videos fitness and healthy cooking for the online version of Experience Life magazine (LifeTime Fitness). Here are two in the “Show Me How” series, featuring Experience Life Fitness Editor Jen Sinkler.

Through 2012 and beyond, I’m independently working on a video documentary about the faith-based fight against the proposal to amend Minnesota’s state constitution to ban same-sex marriage. Over the coming year, Faith Forward will illustrate the moral right of the religious left.
